Zoé Cartier
Zoé Cartier studied cello, first at the Paris Conservatoire, with Guy Besnard (Navarra Schule) and Thérèse Pollet (Tortelier Schule). In 1998 she came to Berlin and studied at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” with Professor Stephan Fork up to her concert examination. Parallel to her studies she participated in numerous master classes with: Truls Mørk, Janos Starker, Philippe Müller, Aldo Parisot, Boris Pergamenshikow, Bernard Greenhouse, David Geringas. Already during her studies she began teaching as an assistant to her professor at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin. From 2006 to 2008 she was solo cellist at the Magdeburg Opera House for two seasons. Since then she has been freelance and a regular guest at: Komische Oper Berlin, Konzerthaus Orchestra, Kammerakademie Potsdam, Ensemble Resonanz, Zafraan Ensemble, Ensemble Adapter, Zeitgenössische Oper Berlin, Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop. Her artistic openness and curiosity led Zoé Cartier to collaborations with very different artists - choreographers (Sacha Waltz, Emmanuelle Huynh, Tino Sehgal), directors (Falk Richter) and actors (Klaus Maria Brandhauer). Since 2013 she has held a teaching position at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” specializing in the training of young students aged 8-19, both directly at the university and at the music high school “Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach.” Zoé Cartier is a passionate cello educator. She places special emphasis on the personal and musical development of her students. Key points of her teaching include: • A conscious, healthy, natural posture while playing and practicing • Various methods and design options for practicing with regard to new technical playing styles and challenges, memorization, and preparation for a new program or competition • Mental training
