Alrun Pacher (recorder und recorderconsort)
Alrun Pacher was born in Salzburg and studied recorder at the University of Music in Vienna and at the Mozarteum Salzburg, She also qualified in Music and Dance Education at the Carl Orff-Institut Salzburg. Postgraduate Studies led her to Amsterdam where she studied with Daniel Brüggen, Paul Leenhouts and Han Tol. From 2002 to 2007 she was a member of Sol Maggiore Hamburg who played on renaissance-recorders built by Adrian Brown. More recently, as a member of the Ensemble Antonio Draghi, she has regularly performed in Italy and Austria. She also founded the Skyspace Ensemble specialising in contemporary music. Alrun Pacher has extensive experience of working with young people, giving concerts for children in the Brucknerhaus Linz and in the Wiener Musikverein. She has also taught young students in connexion with programmes organised by the Wiener Philharmoniker and the Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg. She has taught in various institutions such as the Hamburger Konservatorium and the Pädagogische Hochschule in Vienna. Since 2007 Alrun Pacher is teaching the recorder and recorderconsort at the Landesmusikschulwerk Oberösterreich (many of her students perform outstandingly in competition, frequently carrying off the winning prize). Pachers academic focus is on connecting the arts. She wrote at the University Mozarteum Salzburg a dissertation exploring analogies between music and art.
